Zoustar Mare Wins G3 Toy Show Quality

Tara Madgwick - Saturday August 24
Fourth in two Group I races during the autumn, Zoustar mare Mizzy has always threatened to win a stakes race and did so at Randwick on Saturday taking out the Group III ATC Toy Show Quality.

Fresh from a spell, the Anthony Cummings trained four year-old had looked good in recent trials and went out favourite for the 1100 metre sprint and powered clear to win by more than a length.

"I think there is still better to come for her," Cummings said.

Mizzy as a yearling"She has been out of her grade a lot of her life and that's because I have always thought she was capable of doing something like she did today.

"The 100-1 in the Ming Dynasty when she got beaten a nose was an expensive day but nevertheless she is a really good race mare now.

"She is going to have a really good carnival."

Cummings was keen to see Mizzy (image Steve Hart) ) return to Group I level this spring, but is yet to decide on a her exact program.

"She has been a smidgen off (in Group Is)a couple of times so far and now she is stronger," Cummings said.

"She has run through the line very well today.

"I think the shorter trips are more to her liking. I think quality gets her to 1500m but I think 1100m to 1200m is her right trip."

A $200,000 Inglis Easter purchase for her trainer from the Segenhoe Stud draft, Mizzy has won two of 14 starts and placed a further five times earning in excess of $330,000 in prizemoney.

Bred by Robert Crabtree, Mizzy is the first foal of Magnus stakes-winner Missy Cummings, a daughter of stakes-winner Lady Knockout. Missy Cummings has a weanling colt by Capitalist and is in foal to Written Tycoon.

Mizzy is the ninth stakes-winner for Zoustar, who is fully booked at Widden Stud this spring at a fee of $154,000.
