New Winner for Rubick

Coolmore's promising young sire Rubick added a 19th first crop winner to his tally with an easy Ipswich victory on Friday for Leshrac.

RubickTrained by Matthew Dunn, Leshrac was favorutie for the 1200 metre maiden and scored by three-quarters of a length at his second run back from a spell.

Retained to race by his breeder, Leshrac is the second winner from Flying Spur mare Fine Cuban, a half-sister to the dam of stakes-winners Havana and Diplomatico.

Leshrac is the fourth winner this season for Rubick, who has lightly raced colt Excess Funds contesting the Group III MRC Vain Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.

The busiest sire in 2018 when covering 263 mares, Rubick will cover another big book at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $38,500.
