One to Watch – Sale

Tara Madgwick - Thursday July 11
Pierro delivered an impressive late season juvenile debut winner at Sale on Thursday for the powerful Lindsay Park team.

Peidra as a yearlingGelded earlier this year, the Hayes Dabernig trained Peidra showed that a patient approach is paying dividends when he overcame an outside gate to power clear and win a competitive 1200 metre juvenile maiden by more than two lengths.

"He’s done everything right and has always shown us a bit at home, but today he showed he can really gallop,” said stable representative Bruno Rouge-Serret.

"The new season is just around the corner and once he gets up to 1400 metres and a mile he could easily go to the next level.”

A $250,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Aquis Farm draft for Lindsay Park Racing, Peidra is the third winner from stakes-placed Exceed and excel mare Valoura, a half-sister to Group II winner Noire from the family of Group II winners Media and Timbourina.

Valoura had another Pierro colt that made $200,000 at Inglis Easter this year and she is back in foal to the Golden Slipper winning sire again.

Pierro has had a great season with over 100 winners of in excess of $9million headed by eight stakes-winners including Group I winners Pierata and Arcadia Queen, both horses being targeted towards The Everest.

Pierro stands at a fee of $88,000 at Coolmore this spring.
