One to Watch – Ballarat

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday July 2
Exciting young sire Brazen Beau has had a sensational year at the sales with yearlings selling for up to $1,150,000, but it was one of his cheapest yearlings from 2018 that gave him the ‘One to Watch’ on Tuesday with a debut victory at Ballarat.

One Job as a yearlingPrepared by Colin Little, two year-old filly One Job was a bit keen to get on with it after jumping smartly for Beau Mertens, but eventually settled to track the leaders and when given clear running after turning for home quickly put paid to her rivals.

She sped clear to win the 1000 metre juvenile maiden on the synthetic track by nearly three lengths and was eased to the line to win with ears pricked.

"She wants to go hard and takes things pretty seriously,” said Colin Little.

"We need her to take it a bit less seriously and get her to relax, but she learned a lot today to come from behind.

"She was only a cheap filly. The Brazen Beaus were making hundreds of thousands this year, but we bought her very well as she had a little imperfection.”

One Job was snapped up by Little for just $22,000 at the Inglis VOBIS Gold Sale from the Miranda Park draft and has very nearly won back her purchase price with her first win!

Brazen BeauNow that’s a horse we’d all like to have!

A powerfully built filly, very much stamped in the mould of her sire, One Job is a half-sister to Group II placed Zoubo and is the fifth winner from stakes-placed Testa Rossa mare Testa Reale.

She is the sixth Australian winner for Brazen Beau, who has also sired seven first crop winners in the Northern Hemisphere with a stakes-winner in each hemisphere in Accession (Australia) and Avengers Queen (Italy).

The champion son of I Am Invincible stands at Darley Victoria at a fee of $49,500.
