Juvenile Trial Watch – Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Friday June 14
The end of the racing season is fast approaching and several sires are vying for the title of leading sire by two year-old winners including Newgate Farm’s Deep Field, who had an eye-catching trial winner at Randwick on Friday.

Off White as a yearlingTrained by Peter Robl and ridden by Glyn Schofield, Off White is really bred to be more of a three year-old and as such has been given that time to mature as this was his first public trial.

He found the front with little effort and cruised along in the lead before working to the line three-quarters of a length clear under a hold.

A $170,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Glastonbury Farm draft for Upper Bloodstock, Off White is the third named foal from Redoute’s Choice mare Darazani, a full sister to Group II winner Honorine from an imported family featuring numerous European Group I winners including Almanzor, Darjina, Daryaba, Daryakana and Dariyan.

Given the depth of quality in his female family and his obvious natural talent, Off White might be one to follow next season as his three year-old career unfolds.
