One to Watch – Pakenham

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday June 11
Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum has already tasted Group I success with his homebred I Am Invincible filly Oohood and will be hoping for similar success with this homebred filly by the same sire who opened her account on Tuesday at Pakenham.

Asateer is the 19th 2YO winner this season for I Am InvincibleTrained by Lloyd Kennewell, two year-old filly Asateer was second on debut back in February and was a short priced favourite for her first run back from a spell in the open 1000 metre maiden.

She jumped from the outside in the field of 12 and worked forward to travel on the pace before cruising home to win by more than a length.

Passed in at Inglis Easter and retained to race, Asateer was foaled and raised at Coolmore and is the first foal of Isstoora, who was also bred by the Sheikh. She is an unraced High Chaparral (IRE) daughter of stakes-winner Murjana, who is from the Twyla branch of the Dancing Show family that has produced Group I winner Gathering and Group winners Niagara and Florentina.

Isstoora was sold at the 2019 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for just $90,000 to Bruce Perry Bloodstock and is in foal to Pride of Dubai. Her weanling colt by Medaglia D’Oro (USA) was sold at the same sale for $80,000 to Victoria Peak Bloodstock.

Asateer is the 19th juvenile winner for I Am Invincible this season putting him on a level pegging with Snitzel and Better Than Ready, who are also on 19 two year-old winners.
