Starspangled Surge

Tara Madgwick - Monday April 29
The resurgent stud career of Starspangledbanner is building momentum in the Northern Hemisphere where he posted yet another two year-old winner overnight in Ireland at Navan with a debut victory for Royal Ascot bound Back to Brussells.

StarspangledbannerThe Fozzy Stack trained filly showed brilliant pace and kept going to the line to win the five furlong maiden by three-quarters of a length.

"She has been going nicely at home. She has plenty of speed, those Starspangledbanners seem to be quick. Royal Ascot is the plan and whether she goes straight there or has a run beforehand, I'm not sure yet. There is a possible race for her at Naas, or else the Marble Hill," said Stack.

A 105,000 euro yearling purchase, Back to Brussells is the second winner from Big Bones, a half-sister by Street Sense to stakes-winner Cool Bullet.

The current crop of NH two year-olds are the first to be born since Starspangledbanner overcame his well documented fertility problems and early indications give cause for optimism.

Back to Brussells is one of four winners including brilliant filly Lady Kermit, who has won twice and debut Newmarket winner Chasing Dreams, who is also headed to Royal Ascot for Godolphin.

Starspangledbanner will stand at Rosemont Stud in Victoria this spring at a fee of $22,000.
