Another Debut Winner for Deep Field

Tara Madgwick - Sunday April 7
Newgate Farm's Deep Field is starting to build some real momentum, posting his third winner since the start of the month with a debut victory at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday for Chevy Nova.

Chevy Nova as a yearlingTrained at the track by Stuart Kendrick, he was easy in the market but tenacious to the line in scoring a short half head win in the 1000 metre juvenile maiden.

A $20,000 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale purchase for his trainer from the Newgate Farm draft, Chevy Nova is a half-brother to stakes-winner Acrostar and is the third winner from Group I winner Nova Star.

Nova Star produced a filly last spring by another of the Newgate sires in Flying Artie.

Chevy Nova is the seventh winner for Deep Field, who featured on Saturday when his talented son Dig Deep won the Group II WATC Karrakatta Plate.
