What the jockeys said after the Warwick Stakes

Breednet - Saturday August 19

Winx had everyone holding their breath after blowing the start in Saturday's Group II Warwick Stakes before producing a devastating turn of foot to get up in the shadows of the post.

Once again, Racenet was on hand to get the feedback from every rider after the race.

This is what the jockeys thought of their rides performance.

Phew. I was worried half way through. I've made it public previously that the only time I'm nervous on her is in the barriers and today everyone saw why. She can be fractious and she just jumped in the air, threw herself around as the gates opened, so there wasn't much I could do. Halfway through, the way the race was going, I thought it's going to be hard to make the ground up. I wasn't nervous because all I could do was ride her. I thought everyone else would be nervous. The win isn't up there with her George Ryder or Cox Plate wins but I suppose it was pretty impressive to the eye. It wasn't a big margin but she won pretty easily.

FOXPLAY

Kerrin McEvoy

Great run. She's shown there she's come back in great order and she's in for a great preparation. I thought I had her.

3rd

ECUADOR

Adam Hyeronimus

He's come back well. A very good run again at weight-for-age. It just would have been good if Winx missed it by six and Foxplay by a length.

RED EXCITEMENT

Joshua Parr

It was the performance of his life. He went really well first-up so he's in for a good prep.

ANTONIO GIUSEPPE

Tye Angland

Needed the run. Up to the mile will suit him.

6th

INFERENCE

Tommy Berry

He raced a bit fresh early. Pulled up and had a massive blow so he'll take great improvement. He was tough facing the breeze the whole way.

7th

HARPER'S CHOICE

Glyn Schofield

He raced on speed, he was a bit fresh. He just got outsprinted late but he certainly felt quite nice.

8th

ALLERGIC

Tim Clark

He was a stayer resuming and couldn't have asked for him to do much more.
