New Group Three Winner for Choisir

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday February 27
Popular Coolmore sire Choisir is working towards a century of stakes-winners, siring his 93rd stakes-winner at Launceston on Wednesday when Twitchy Frank captured the Group III TTC Vamos Stakes at Launceston.

ChoisirPreviously trained by Darren Weir, the progressive four year-old was second for her new trainer Adam Trinder in the Group III Bow Mistress Stakes on February 8 and went one better when stepped up to 1400 metres for this assignment.

She stalked the pace in third place after jumping from an inside gate and was strong to the line in winning her first Black Type race by a head.

A modest $10,000 Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale purchase for Darren Weir Racing from the draft of Eliza Park International, Twitchy Frank has the overall record of six wins and three placings from 15 starts with prizemoney just shy of $380,000.

Bred by Cranton Bloodstock, Twitchy Frank is the first winner for Lonhro's metropolitan winner Red Pixie, a grand-daughter of Group I STC Coolmore Classic winner Camino Rose.

Red Pixie was covered last spring by Toronado (IRE).

Twitchy Frank adds to the formidable record of Coolmore's veteran sire Choisir, who turns 20 this year.
