First Winner for Mawingo

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday February 27

Grenville Stud is very excited with resident sire Mawingo siring his first winner on Tuesday with Soldierof Love trained by Bjorn Baker winning convincingly over 1,400m at Bathurst.

MawingoSoldier of Love was sent out an extremely short priced favourite after a recent impressive trial win at Rosehill on the 11th of February and made light work of his opposition winning easily at just his second start.

Mawingo was a top class international galloper winning in Germany, Singapore and Australia including the Group 1 Doomben Cup and running an unlucky second in the Group 1 C. F. Orr Stakes behind All Too Hard.

Mawingo's progeny are being given some time and we are likely to see Mawingo having some more runners and winners as the season progresses with his progeny likely to be better at three and onwards.

"We continue to get good reports from trainers who have progeny by Mawingo and are excited to see more of them racing in the coming months,"  said Graeme McCulloch.
