$60,000 Safeguard Filly Tops MM Perth Book Two

Media Release - Wednesday February 20
A lovely filly by exciting young local sire Safeguard topped Book Two of the 2019 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale in the Swan Valley.

Presented for auction by Namerik Thoroughbreds of Serpentine as Lot 190, the bay filly was purchased by top Ascot trainer Paul Jordan for $60,000.

$60,000 Safeguard FillyThe filly will be out to continue the bright start for the group winning two and three-year-old Safeguard – an exciting son of Exceed and Excel who stands at Mogumber Park.

Today's top seller is a half sister to two multiple winners from the 100 per cent winner producer Comme Ci – herself a five time winning daughter of Verglas.

Comme Ci is a sister to stakes performer Versarc and half sister to Adelaide group performer Subsequential – the dam of Tasmanian Guineas winner Moving Money.

Five of the top six sellers at the Book Two sale were by Safeguard with his filly from Perpendicular selling to Simon Miller Racing for $55,000, his colt from Jeverre selling to Jim Taylor for $50,000, his filly from Cause for Demand going to Pearce Racing for $50,000 and the Cats Galore filly heading to Neville Parnham for $48,000.

The only yearling splitting that group was the second last offering of the auction, the Fiorente-Windana colt offered by Lynward Park Stud who sold to Jason Ferguson for $50,000.

During the day over $2.3million changed hands on 102 lots sold at an average price of $22,519. The clearance rate sat at 72per cent at the close of the auction.

"Today's sale followed on from yesterday's trend where there was a huge craving for quality lots," Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said. "But the buying bench is very selective."

"Obviously we are disappointed in our clearance rate."

"The Western Australian industry is in good shape for the future. We are delighted to have our new home here in the Swan Valley and we look forward to continuing to improve the quality of product that is offered here in years to come."
