$260,000 I Am Invincible Colt Tops MM Perth Opener

Media Release - Tuesday February 19
A beautifully related colt by leading Hunter Valley based sire I Am Invincible has topped Book One of the 2019 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale.

Catalogued as Lot 66 the colt from Western Breeders Alliance was purchased by leading Perth bloodstock agent John Chalmers in partnership with Pearce Racing for $260,000.

The colt was the star on a momentous day for the WA thoroughbred industry coinciding with the first day of selling from Magic Millions' new Swan Valley Sales Complex.

"He's a lovely colt," co-trainer Ben Pearce said the I Am Invincible sale topper. "He's very powerful."

"We'll be excited to get him to the races for a loyal client of ours Warren Martin."

The colt is by leading Yarraman Park Stud sire I Am Invincible and is from the grand producing Real Jester mare Jestceny.

The sale topper is the eighth living foal of a metropolitan winner who has produced five winners including Magic Millions WA 2YO Classic winner The River and stakes performers Jestpatim and Soundcheck.

"For an I Am Invincible that's what you've got to pay," Pearce added. "We were happy to get him for $260,000."

Some 23 yearlings sold for $100,000 or more on the day with fillies by Zoustar and Snitzel selling for $200,000 to Harvey Racing and Aquis Farm respectively.

During the day almost $7 million changed hands on 105 lots sold at a record average price of $64,981 with a clearance rate of over 77 per cent.

"It was a historic day for the Western Australian industry," Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said. "There was a great vibe around the complex thanks to a huge crowd."

"It's difficult to compare our results to last year. Within today's sale there were some huge results. The craving for quality horses was evident and vendors who met the market were rewarded."

"With the commitment that has been made here in the Swan Valley we are hoping it encourages our vendors to continue to invest in quality product."

"All in all we are pleased with today and we believe tomorrow will give buyers a great opportunity to buy and race for incredible prizemoney in this industry," Bowditch summed up.
