I Am Invincible Filly Cracks It for First Stakes Win

Mark Smith - Saturday February 9

The Mick Price-trained 3yo filly Crack The Code has been beaten just once in five starts, that coming when unplaced in the Group III National Stakes at Morphettville at two last May, but the daughter of I Am Invincible showed she belongs in stakes company with a fighting win in Saturday's Group III Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield.

Given the run of the race by Damien Oliver, Crack The Code gradually wore down the gallant front-runner News Girl (Magnus) by three-quarters of a length with Aperitif (Bernardini) another long-neck back in third. (image Grant Courtney )

"She's a good filly, isn't she?" Price said.

"No need to go past 1200 metres with her, keep her fresh and we take her to the beach regularly enough."

"There's are carnival right in front of her and all I say I need to space her runs and keep her light on her feet and don't go past 1200m."

Carrying the colours of Darren Dance's Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock, Crack The Code (pictured as a yearling ) advances her record to 4 wins from 5 starts with earnings of $283,000.

The daughter of I Am Invincible was a $170,000 purchase by Australia Thoroughbred Bloodstock/CB Bloodstock out of the Yarraman Park Stud draft at the 2017 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

A half-sister to the Group 1 WATC Railway Stakes winner Covertly (Metal Storm), the Group III winner So Secret (Danetime) and the Listed winner Secret Link (Encosta de Lago, Crack The Code is the 13th foal and tenth winner from 11 to race out of the 3-time Listed stakes-winner Most Secret (Bletchley Park).

A sister to WATC Listed Gimcrack Stakes winner Ebony Magic, So Secret died in May 2017 and Crack The Code is her final foal.

Crack The Code becomes the 43rd stakes-winner for Yarraman Park Stud's I Am Invincible who covered 223 of the cream of Australia's broodmares last spring at a fee of $192,500
