Pluck's Life On The Wire a Class Above in Bow Mistress

Mark Smith - Friday February 8

The Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale has a wonderful ambassador in the $10,000 filly Life On The Wire.

The 5yo daughter of Pluck USA) scored her second stakes win in Friday's Group III Bow Mistress Stakes at Hobart almost 12 months after her first in the Group III Vamos Stakes at Launceston.

Ridden by Jason Maskiell, Life On The Wire was rarely closer than three wide the trip but she seemed to level on the soft track to win by one and a quarter lengths from the dead-heaters Twitchy Frank (Choisir) and Speedonova (Tough Speed).

A winner of two races at Sandown back in November 2017, the Scott Brunton-trained mare advances her record to 8 wins, 3 seconds and 2 from 17 starts with earnings of $358,925.

Brunton said Life On The Wire (pictured as a yearling ) is likely to defend her title in the Vamos Stakes.

"Dad picked her out of the yearling sale for 10 grand and sold her in a package with three other horses I could beat with gumboots and overalls on," Brunton said.

"Thank God she came good with class. She's fantastic."

Purchased by David Brunton out of The Old Crossing draft at the 2015 Magic Millions Adelaide Sale, Life On The Wire is the best of three winners out of the 2-time winning Vettori (IRE) mare Our Seventh Heaven who has an unraced 2yo colt by Albrecht named Major Heist who was sold for $40,000 at last year's Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

After missing in 2016, Our Seventh Heaven foaled a full-brother to Life On The Wire last spring and was bred back to Pluck (USA).

The sire of three stakes-winners, Pluck (USA), who is a clone of his father More Than Ready (USA), covered 28 mares at Vinery Stud last spring at a fee of $6,600.
