Redoute's Choice Joins in the Fun

Mark Smith - Saturday January 12

Not to be left out after his sons Snitzel and Not A Single Doubt provided the quinella in the $2m MM 2yo Classic, the ground old man Redoute's Choice featured as the sire of the $1 million Magic Millions Cup hero Redouble.

Rounding out a profitable day for trainer Bjorn Baker, the 5yo gelding kept up a strong gallop under Craig Williams to defeat Sambro (Fastnet Rock) by a length with Shogun Sun (Written Tycoon) a short neck away third. (photos Steve Hart )

Earlier on the programme, Baker won the Magic Millions Sprint with Egyptian Symbol.

"I've spent a lot of money at the sales and my wife owns a share of Redouble so I don't have to sell the house now," Baker told AAP.

"What a fantastic country this is. Absolute fantastic."

Originally trained by team Hawkes, Redouble advances his record to

5 wins, 4 seconds and 4 thirds from 25 starts with earnings of $954,500. Not bad bickies for a horse that has yet to win a stakes race.

Purchased by Spendthrift Farm for $200,000 out of the Torryburn Stud draft at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Redouble is the fourth foal of the Group 1 winning Towkay mare Special Mission.

Special Mission has an unraced 2yo Helmet filly named Miltida. Not served in 2017, Special Mission had a colt fo9al by Palentino last spring and was bred back to Fighting Sun.
