Magic Millions Next for Expensive Fastnet Rock Filly

Tara Madgwick - Saturday December 29
As a full sister to Group I MRC Thousand Guineas winner Irish Lights, Movie Role is bred to be well above average and booked her ticket to the Gold Coast for the $2million Magic Millions Classic with a stylish victory at Randwick on Saturday.

Prepared at Lindsay Park by the Hayes Dabernig team, Movie Role (image Steve Hart ) made her debut at Flemington on December 15th when a troubled fifth to promising Rubick colt Yes Yes Yes. She featured in the stewards report on that occasion and had a slow post-race recovery, so had some excuses on what appeared a fairly modest effort.

Easy in the market for the open 1000 metre juvenile event in Sydney, she settled off the pace for Tom Marquand and zoomed along the fence to power clear and win by a length and a half over Starspangledbanner colt Igniting, who raced greenly, covered ground and hit the line hard for second.

Movie Role as a yearling"She'll probably go to the Gold Coast now, it looked a lovely trial to me," said stable representative Dara O'Maher.

"The 1200 metres will be right up her alley. She's a full sister to Irish Lights, who won the Thousand Guineas and we think she has a bright future."

A $600,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Coolmore draft for Lindsay Park Racing, Movie Role carries the Coolmore navy blue colours.

Movie Role is the fifth winner from six foals to race from good producer Aspen Falls (USA), whose star offspring is Irish Lights, the dam of high class Group II winner Omei Sword, who made $1.7 million at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale this year.

Aspen Falls produced a filly this year by American Pharaoh (USA), but has no yearling for the sales.

Coolmore will present an outstanding draft of 57 yearlings at the 2019 Magic Millions including six by Fastnet Rock, click here to see the draft.
