Shadwell Farm Celebrate Winning Treble

Shadwell Farm had a Red Letter day on Wednesday when three of their Great Southern Weanling Graduates saluted across three different States. Operated by brothers Phil and Rick Wells, Shadwell Farm sell exclusively in the Weanling market.

Great scenes greeted the tough Sandown victory of Tubbs Gift who certainly has had an interesting journey to the City Winners list.

Tubbs Gift was in the Shadwell Farm 2014 Inglis Great Southern Sale Draft as Agent for Tony 'Tubba' Williams. 

A daughter of Artie Schiller (USA), 'She was not overly big but had good bone' explains Rick Wells. 

Entering the ring with a Reserve of $15k she failed to reach the reserve and was passed in. With little follow up interest, Tony Williams made the decision to 'gift' to a good home rather than take her back to the Hunter Valley. Hence her name…Tubbs Gift.

The lucky beneficiary was close friend Steve McKenna who gladly took the little girl home to his Barnawartha property and grew her out. She was broken in as a 2 year old then Steve decided to lease her out to clients of local trainer David O'Prey.

Problem Solver was one of threwe winners on Wednesday offered as weanlings by Shadwell FarmShadwell Farm joined the Ownership and the journey begun.

Given plenty of time to mature, Tubbs always showed good staying ability and Wednesday's win was a result a good time in the making.

Tubba Williams, now based in the UK keeps in regular contact re Tubbs and we shared a drink at last year's Magic Millions Sale after she won her maiden. He will be thrilled that she has graduated to a City Winner.

Completing the wonderful day for Shadwell Farm was the brilliant wins by Tassie Champ I'm Wesley and smart mare Problem Solver.

I'm Wesley, bred in partnership with Shadwell Farm, won his 13th race when winning the Listed Conquering Stakes. He was an $8K purchase by trainer Glenn Stevenson from the 2013 Draft.

Problem Solver was consigned to the 2015 Draft on behalf of Kate Nivison's ETAK Thoroughbreds. A $54K Sale she was pinhooked by Wattle Grove and onsold at Magic Millions to Gerald Ryan for $165K. She won the Wyong 3yo MM after winning the MM Maiden back in January.
