Miller’s first starter a winner with $1,000 gavelhouse.com buy

Media Release - Thursday December 6

It was a day of firsts for young Matamata-based trainer Daniel Miller who produced his first ever runner, $1,000 gavelhouse yearling purchase Sheezallmine, to win on debut at Pukekohe Park on Wednesday over 1200m.

Sheezallmine was purchased by Millers' mother Maree Miller online in July 2017 to help establish his stable "When Mum bought her off gavelhouse.com she dropped her off at home and I broke her in straight away," he commented.

"She's not the easiest and is a typically filly with that tough streak in her but they need that."

The three-year-old daughter of Super Easy went into the race with two trial wins behind her and produced a professional, front running display in the hands of apprentice rider Tegan Newman, much to the delight of the of the Miller family who were on course to witness the three-quarter-length win.

"She has pulled up well, had a good blow and has room for improvement."

"We will take her home and see how she is at the end of the week and perhaps aim for rating 65 race."

"I have a couple of young ones at home but they're sometime away from trialling just yet but it's a great start for me and I'm looking forward to seeing how far we can go with them all."

Sheezallmine is the first winner out of the winning Tale of the Cat mare Bast who is a half-sister to two stakes performers in Laaffaire and Dorian Grey. Her fourth dam is Khaptivaan who produced Gr.1 VRC Oakleigh Stakes winner Khaptingly and Sheezallmine's third dam, Listed winner Khaptrist.
