Juvenile Trial Watch – Wyong

Tara Madgwick - Monday December 3
The Peter and Paul Snowden stable sent a float load of babies to Wyong on Monday and won three of the four juvenile heats conducted with youngsters by I Am Invincible, Lonhro and Dissident.

The quickest of the four trial winners covering the 845 metre gallop in 51.24 seconds was I Am Invincible filly Howra, a homebred for Sheikh Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum making her first public appearance.

Howra jumped fast and led all the way for Corey Brown to win under a hold by three-quarters of a length looking like another future winner to come off the I Am Invincible production line.

Howra is from imported Oasis Dream mare Canashito (GB), whose dam is a half-sister to Group I winner and breed shaping sire Danehill.

Interesting runner in that heat was the Mark Newnham trained Star Witness colt Exceed the Stars, who was having his first outing since finishing sixth on debut when equal favourite in the Group III ATC Breeders Plate won by Dubious.

He was a little slow to jump and found himself at the back of the field but mustered speed to track up out wide coming to the turn and motored to the line to finish third under his own steam.

L'Cosmo as a gorgeous foalExceed the Stars is Magic Millions eligible and will have valuable track experience if connections send him back to Wyong next week for the $200,000 Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Another well bred winner from the Snowden stable was the first foal of dual Group I winner Cosmic Endeavour, a lovely Lonhro filly called L'Cosmo.

Retained to race by her breeders Don and Judy Kelly, L'Cosmo improved on her first trial outing when third at Rosehill last month, travelling up on the pace and finding the line well for Corey Brown to win by a long neck held together.

She's pictured here as a foal back in 2016 at Hunter Valley broodmare farm Crowningstone.

The final Snowden winner was Dissident filly Yitai Synergy, who showed brilliant speed from the gates to find the front and quickly string the field out behind her. Steadied by Corey Brown she was in cruise control after that and hit the line hard held to win by more than a length in 51.42 seconds.

Yitai Synergy as a yearlingA $260,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Newgate Farm draft for Snowden Racing she runs for China Horse Club and Yitai Racing.

A good looking chestnut reminiscent of her grand-sire Sebring, Yitai Synergy is the second foal of Longing, a Lonhro daughter of Group III winner Hinting.

The remaining heat was won by the Kris Lees trained Star Witness colt Star Raider, who won by a couple of lengths at his first public outing in 52.73 seconds. He was not sold as a yearling so will not be a contender for the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic next week.
