Daughter of Galileo is World's Highest Priced Filly Foal in 2018

Galileo filly from PearlingThe headline lot on the third day of the Tattersalls December Foal Sale was the regally-bred GALILEO filly out of PEARLING who was knocked down to Tony Nerses of Blue Diamond Stud for 1.7 million guineas, becoming the highest priced filly foal to be sold at public auction this year.

Consigned by New England Stud, the full sister to three-time Group 1 winner DECORATED KNIGHT is from the wonderful family of Champion sire and racehorse GIANT'S CAUSEWAY as well as dual Guineas winner GLENEAGLES.

"She has been bought for Imad Al Sagar," explained Nerses, the filly bred by him in partnership with Saleh Al Homaizi, the pair having owned Blue Diamond Stud together and their Derby winner, AUTHORIZED.

"Saleh Al Homaizi is moving away from some of the horses – not all – and Imad was very keen to retain this filly.

"She has a wonderful page, is an absolute sweetheart and is as a sister to Decorated Knight who is very special to us."

Nerses also secured the SEA THE STARS filly out of Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes winner PRINCESS NOOR for the same owner at 600,000 guineas.

The sales-topping foal's dam PEARLING is be offered as Lot 1918 at next week's Tattersalls December Mares Sale.

725,000 Guineas for Dubawi Sister to Best of Days

Dubawi filly from BaisseThe DUBAWI filly out of the Listed winning HIGH CHAPARRAL mare BAISSE caught the eye of Anthony Stroud who went to 725,000 guineas to secure the well bred foal from eventual underbidder Crispin de Moubray.

Fittocks Stud consigned the January born filly on behalf of German breeder Gerhard Schoeningh, the owner and manager of Hoppegarten racecourse.

Schoeningh recounted after the sale;

"Crispin de Moubray bought Baisse for me as a Book 2 yearling and we sent her into training with Sir Henry Cecil - he was my first trainer and this is a great tribute to him.

"We sent her to Germany and she managed to win at Listed level there."

Sara Cumani of Fittocks Stud added;

"This filly has never put a foot wrong and just been so straightforward. The mare is in-foal to Nathaniel and we hope she'll go back to Dubawi."

The filly received a significant catalogue update after her half-brother BEST OF DAYS won the Group 1 Kennedy Mile at Flemington over the Melbourne Cup Carnival, having won the Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes as a two-year-old.

700,000 Guineas for Dubawi Colt out of Nightime

Matt Coleman of Stroud Coleman Bloodstock went to 700,000 guineas to buy the DUBAWI colt out of Group 1 Irish 1000 Guineas winner NIGHTIME.

The Castlebridge Consignment offered the brother to Grade 1 Man O'War Stakes winner ZHUKOVA and dual Group 3 winner GHAIYYATH on behalf of the Weld Family's Springbank Way Stud.

Coleman commented;

"She is by a world class stallion, from a wonderful young family and from a top class breeder."

Frankel Filly a Triumph for Stowell Hill Stud

Two FRANKEL fillies lit up the ring at Tattersalls on Friday, selling for 700,000 guineas apiece. The first of those was the daughter of the Group 3 winning FANTASTIC LIGHT mare MIDDLE CLUB who was knocked down to Hugo Lascelles for 700,000 guineas. Consigned by Jeanette McCreery's Stowelll Hill Stud on behalf of the Middle Club Team, the filly's dam MIDDLE CLUB was bred by Stowell Hill Stud, but sold at the Tattersalls December Mare Sale back in 2010 for 280,000 guineas to race in the US before being repatriated.

McCreery explained: "She was bred at Stowell and raced by my late husband Bob. We sold her at the December Mares Sale to race in the US, and she visited Distorted Humor and Medaglia D'Oro in the states.

"But she came up for sale and Bob bought her back – we put together a group of five people to own her."

The pedigree of MIDDLE CLUB has received some significant updates this year with her half-sister ANNA NERIUM winning the Group 3 Supreme Stakes. Another sibling, COPLOW, is the dam of the 1,000 Guineas winner BILLESDON BROOK and the Listed winner BILLESDON BESS who is catalogued as Lot 1896 at next week's Tattersalls December Mares Sale.

Juddmonte Strike for Frankel Filly

The Juddmonte resident FRANKEL has made a sensational start to his stud career and the second of his daughters to realise 700,000 guineas during Friday's session at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale was the filly out of the Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes winner DIVINE.

The Voute Sales consigned daughter of DIVINE was knocked down to Juddmonte Farms' stud Director Simon Mockridge.

"She will be a lovely addition to come back to the farm eventually," said Mockridge. "She is out of a fast 6 furlong mare and we are looking to go down the 'Galileo' route a little with Frankel - send him some speedy mares."

The DARK ANGEL filly DIVINE is catalogued as lot 1890 at the Tattersalls December Mare Sale next week.

The Tattersalls December Foal Sale continues at 10am on Saturday, December 1 with the fourth and final session.
