Lonhro's Sister Produces Promising Colt in Europe

Mark Smith - Friday November 23

Making a late-season debut under James Doyle in a Novice Stakes over 7-furlongs on the all-weather at Kempton on Wednesday, the Charlie Appleby-trained Zakouski showed he is a colt with a future when defeating Khalid Abdullah's Kingman colt Headman by two lengths.

Odd-on favourite Headman was coming off a three and three-quarter lengths win when making his career debut at Newcastle on November 1.

A son of Shamardal (USA), Zakouski is the first European foal for Lonhro's unraced sister O'Giselle who had already left the Group III ATC Up And Coming Stakes winner and Group 1 Golden Rose runner-up Albrecht (Redoute's Choice) (pictured ) from her time in Australia.

Reporting on Zakouski, the Racing Post said:

"Tracked leaders, effort on inner to challenge over 1f out, led 1f out, ran on strongly and asserted final 100yds.

O'Giselle has a yearling colt by Dubawi but when she slipped to Frankel she was repatriated in April this year.
