There would be plenty of breeders in Australia that would relish another chance with the father and son combination of Shamardal (USA) and Lope De Vega (IRE) who started the final day of Royal Ascot when the father sired the winner of the Chesham Stakes, Pinatubo, at the expense of his son's better fancied Lope Y Fernandez.
It was the start of an extraordinary day for Shamardal (USA) who would hit the heights when his bull of a son Blue Point became just the third horse to complete the King's Stand and Diamond Jubilee Stakes and the first since Choisir in 2003.

struck in the meetings penultimate race, the 26-runner Wokingham Handicap (6f).
In all likelihood Blue Point will at some stage become a part of the Godolphin stallion winter migration south to Australia and hopefully before then he might be given a chance to show his wares on the track in a race like the Everest but that is looking less likely.
When he hit the front on Saturday, Blue Point looked set for an easy win however he just gets six furlongs and Dream Of Dreams a son of Dream Ahead (USA) fell just a head short of an upset.
After shuttling for seven seasons, Dream Ahead will not have his passport renewed this year.

His final Australian crop of 59 live foals included Chris Waller's enigmatic Delectation the winner of the Group 1 VRC Darley Classic, while the beautifully bred Ghibellines captured the Group II ATC Todman Stakes.
With four wins, Shamardal (USA) was crowned the leading sire at Royal Ascot at the expense of Galileo, Sea The Stars and Bated Breath on three wins over the four days.
