Top Sales for Holy Roman

Tara Madgwick - Friday November 23
Some very good stallions always seem undervalued by the local marketplace and one of those is high class shuttler Holy Roman Emperor (IRE), who had two youngsters offered and both sold at the NZB Ready to Run Sale of 2YO's this week for $240,000 and $200,000.

Neither of the two colts were offered as yearlings and both worked impressively at the breeze up session clocking sub 11 second gallops to put them firmly on the radar for buyers.

$200,000 Holy Roman Emperor colt from IzajazzarSelling for $240,000 to Victoria Peak Bloodstock was the colt from Montjeu (IRE) mare Montwest that was offered by Regal Farm as agent. He is the seventh foal of an unraced half-sister to Group II winner Natalie Wood, the dam of high class stayer Maluckyday, who was second in a Melbourne Cup.

Prima Park put the polish on the Holy Roman Emperor colt from Izajazzar that made $200,000 when bought by Hong Kong based buyer Mr Pui KK. Bred by Aquis Farm, he's a colt that sold purely on type and ability as his dam is an unplaced daughter of E Dubai (USA), whose family is barren of stakes-winners back through the first five dams.

The success of the sale is a testament to the ability of Holy Roman Emperor to upgrade a fairly modest mare to produce a quality individual with commercial appeal to the right market.

Holy Roman EmperorBy Danehill from the family of Flying Spur and Encosta de Lago, Holy Roman Emperor is the sire of over 70 stakes-winners worldwide including Group I winners in every major racing jurisdiction ensuring his stock are valued right around the world.

He stands at Aquis in Queensland at a fee of $9,900 and will soon depart for his Northern Hemisphere home of Coolmore in Ireland, where he sired this year's Group I Irish Two Thousand Guineas winner Romanised.
