First Winner for Crowded House

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday November 14
A renowned breeder of stayers Trevor Delroy of Wyadup Valley Farm was in the winner's circle at Bendigo on Wednesday when his promising three year-old filly Alexandria gave her sire Crowded House (GB) his first winner.

Crowded HouseTrained by Pat Carey as have been Mr Delroy's Group I winning stayers Ethiopia, Cedarberg and Gondokoro, Alexandria made a winning debut over 1600 metres scoring an easy length and three-quarter victory.

Alexandria is a homebred for Mr Delroy and is the first foal and winner from Authorized (IRE) mare Asante, a grand-daughter of French stakes-winner Pink Valley from the family of numerous high class French stakes-winners.

A Group I winner of the Doncaster Racing Post Trophy, Crowded House stands virtually as a private sire for Mr Delroy. He comes with a superb pedigree being by Rainbow Quest from the family of champion sires Storm Cat and Royal Academy. His branch of the family through Chapel of Dreams has delivered Group I winners such as Reckless Abandon, Brando and Ticker Tape.

Alexandria is the first winner from nine runners for Crowded House, whose oldest progeny are just four.
