Black Type Next for $4,000 Gavelhouse Buy

Media Release - Wednesday November 7

A tilt at securing black-type is now on the radar for Robert Dennis' $4,000 gavelhouse purchase Nightcap after she took her total earnings past $70,000 with a Melbourne Cup Day win at Wingatui.

Purchased online in May 2017 from her breeders The Oaks Stud having had just two starts, the Roc de Cambes mare has now won six for the Blue Khaki Syndicate.

Trained out of Dennis' Southland base, Nightcap  was hunted out of the gates by apprentice Corey Campbell and the pair hugged the rail before peeling out to run down the leader in the final 200m.

"At the moment we have 12 horses in work and Nightcap is owned by a big syndicate with 23 owners and they also have a few others in training with me," said Dennis.

"She has pulled up really well after the run and is a tough mare who takes it all in her stride."

"After her performance yesterday, next up we look to aim her at a Listed race at Wingatui on Boxing Day."

The Oaks Stud currently have three unreserved horses for sale in the latest gavelhouse.com New Zealand auction including an untried New Zealand Bloodstock Insurance Pearl Series Eligible Darci Brahma filly at Lot 9.
