Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill

Tara Madgwick - Friday November 2
You don’t often see a Godolphin two year-old come out and blitz the opposition to win by five lengths, but that happened this morning at Rosehill with the half-brother to Group I stars Alizee and Astern.

Brazen BeauRidden by Glyn Schofield, the James Cummings trained son of Brazen Beau was in a class of his own, quickly mustering speed from the gate to take an early lead and then cruising clear to win as he pleased by the official margin of five and a half lengths.

He clocked 54.20 seconds for the 900 metres which was the quickest of three juvenile heats, the others won by Switched (All Too Hard) and Giovaninia (Hinchinbrook).

Tassort is the sixth named foal for winning Exceed and Excel mare Essaouira, who has had four to race all winners headed by Alizee, winner of the Group I ATC Flight Stakes and Queen of the Turf Stakes, Astern, winner of the Group I ATC Golden Rose and Group III placed Mogador.

Essaouira has a powerful lineage as her first three dams are Group II winner Alizes, Group I winner La Baraka and Champion Filly Triscay.

Essaouira has a yearling filly by Astern’s sire Medaglia D’Oro (USA) and was covered by him again last spring.

Tassort looms as a bright prospect for Darley’s exciting young sire Brazen Beau, who won the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes in 2014 and followed up in the autumn to win the Group I VRC Newmarket Handicap.

The champion son of I Am Invincible has his first runners this season and stands at Darley Victoria at a fee of $38,500.
