Second Winner for Better Than Ready

Mark Smith - Sunday October 28

Fourth at Doomben when making her career debut three weeks back, the Toby Edmonds-trained filly Betaima scored a bloodless four and three-quarter length win over 1000 metres at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday to credit her sire Better Than Ready with his second winner.

Making every post a winner under Jeff Lloyd, Betaima cruised around to defeat Tariro, a daughter of another first season sire Time For War, with Hit Snooze a further one and a half lengths back in third.

Betaima (pictured as a yearling ) was a $62,000 purchase by Michael Nolen out of the Yarramalong Park draft from book 2 at the 2018 Magic Million Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

She is the second foal of the unraced Naima who is a half-sister to the stakes-placed Diamond I Am (Catbird).

Four-time stakes winner Better Than Ready (More Than Ready) is covering his fourth book of mares at Lyndhurst Stud at a fee of $9,900.
