One to Watch – Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday October 17
The stakes racing action might be at Caulfield on Wednesday, but champion trainer Chris Waller believes he has another good one by The Autumn Sun's champion sire Redoute's Choice and she won on debut at Randwick today.

Brazilica as a yearlingThree year-old filly Brazilica was partnered by Hugh Bowman and sent out a short priced favourite for the 1100 metre maiden and always had the race in her keeping.

She ambled up three wide to take the lead after turning for home and surged clear to win by a couple of lengths.

"She was a bit 'new' when I rode her in a trial the other day, but she wasn't 'new' today. She knew her task and did it in good style," said Hugh Bowman.

"She has an extraordinary action, a lovely filly."

A $400,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Cameron Cooke Bloodstock from the Arrowfield Stud draft, Brazilica is the third winner from three foals to race from former superstar filly Brazilian Pulse.

She was the darling of the 2010 Melbourne Spring Carnival finishing third in the Group I MRC Thousand Guineas before winning the Group II VRC Wakeful Stakes and Group I VRC Oaks.

"She's certainly very well bred and I'm grateful to be training her for Mr and Mrs Payne, who come from Victoria," said Chris Waller.

"She's by the right stallion and is going places. I'd be confident she'll get up to a mike easily."

Brazilian Pulse has a yearling filly by Not a Single Doubt and was covered last year by Maurice (Jpn).
