Thousand Guineas Field and Draw

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday October 9

A field of 16 three-year-old fillies has accepted to contest Saturday's Group I Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield and the all-important barrier draw has been conducted with race favourite Smart Melody drawing ideally in two.

She is one of two Kris Lees-trained runners in the $500,000 race along with Group I winner El Dorado Dreaming while Chris Waller will run Fiesta, who won the overall Darley Princess Series in Sydney. All three interstate raiders drew favourably.

Amphitrite and Krone will both back up after the fillies ran the quinella in last Saturday's Edward Manifold Stakes but luck wasn't on their side in the draw for barriers.
