Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Two juvenile heats at the barrier trials at Warwick Farm on Monday featured winners by Snitzel and Medaglia D’Oro (USA), the former entered for this Saturday’s Group III ATC Gimcrack Stakes.

Diddles as a yearlingA $400,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Segenhoe Stud draft, two year-old Snitzel filly Diddles carries the colours of Strawberry Hill Stud and is trained by Clarry Conners, who has enjoyed plenty of success with John Singleton having won the Golden Slipper for him in 2000 with Belle du Jour, who was also a Magic Millions purchase.

Diddles jumped smartly and led all the way for Tommy Berry to win the 801 metre trial by two lengths under a hold. She looked fast and professional as she should given her pedigree.

Bred by Segenhoe and Gerry Harvey, Diddles is bred to be good being from Group II winner Mimi Lebrock, who won the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and was twice placed in Group I events.

The other heat was won by Gooree Stud homebred colt Absolute Control, who scored a narrow win for the Joe Pride stable.

Absolute Control is a half-brother to three winners including two stakes-placed horses and is from Group III winner Gamble on Me.
