ASTA Offer International Educational Trip

Media Release - Monday September 10

The Australian Stablehand & Trackrider Alliance (ASTA) is offering a priceless opportunity for one its members to further their careers in learning from some of the biggest names in world racing.

A trip to the 2019 Dubai World Cup, the world's richest racemeeting with total prizemoney of $US35 million, is being offered with the winner to visit stables and attend trackwork for the week of the world's largest international racemeeting.

"ASTA was created to address the critical staffing issue within the Australian thoroughbred industry," said Martin Talty, Director and co-founder of ASTA.

"Retaining and attracting new staff to the industry is of paramount importance and ASTA is designed to assist those currently working within the industry by offering benefits and providing pathways to further their careers."

"To illustrate our commitment we are offering an opportunity for one of our members to travel and witness not only the world's richest racemeeting but also be on the ground in the week leading up to it and watching how a who's who of trainers from around the world prepare their horses."

"The Dubai World Cup attracts many of the best horses and trainers from the USA, Europe, Asia, South America, South Africa and Australia and it is the most international of all racemeetings around the world."

"We will arrange for them to go to stables and trackwork and watch first-hand how trainers from all parts of the world prepare their horses for major assignments. What they learn and the contacts they can make there will have a knock-on effect as they will return with greater awareness and knowledge which can only benefit themselves in furthering their careers here."

Only those registered with ASTA are eligible to win the Dubai trip and those not currently registered can do so for free at www.asta.horse.

ASTA will provide return airfares, accommodation and tickets to Breakfast with the Stars and the Dubai World Cup meeting as well as arrange a media interview for the winner.

The ASTA website is online at www.asta.horse and open to all those involved in the equine industry to register.
