Winners Keep Coming for Shamexpress

Media Release - Monday August 6
Though giving away raceday experience to his rivals, highly regarded Shamexpress 3YO Tiny Terror displayed a good level of professionalism when overcoming an interrupted passage to gain the decision and score on debut in the feature 3YO event at Te Rapa on Saturday.

Tiny Terror in green and redAn impressive winner of two 2YO trials, Tiny Terror sat outside the leader for much of the contest and though denied clear running in the home straight, maintained his composure to rally strongly for victory.

The stewards room decision confirmed the placings of hitherto unbeaten Von Trapp (Swiss Ace) and dual winning stakes performer Cyber Attack (Shamexpress) into the minor positions.

Trained at Matamata by Michael Moroney and Pam Gerard for well known racing identity Max Whitby, Tiny Terror was pitted against his fellow 3YO's to help determine his future pathway.

"We do think he is pretty good", said co-trainer Pam Gerard.

"He's a very strong horse that trialled up really well. He has now matched up to some pretty good three-year-olds so he is shaping up as a nice chance for some of the early stakes races coming up".

A $70,000 Karaka yearling sale purchase, Tiny Terror is out of Thora, a daughter of Pins who is a sister to the dam of Gr.1 Queensland Derby winner Brambles.

Tiny Terror is the seventh individual winner from the first crop of his hot young sire Shamexpress (O'Reilly), sire also of stakes winning 2YO London Express and stakes performed 2YO winner Qiji Express.

An Australian Gr.1 winning sprinter, Windsor Park Stud stallion Shamexpress has proved popular in the sale ring where his yearlings have sold to $510,000.

Shamexpress stands at a fee of $12,500.
