Hinchinbrook 2YO Goes Two for Two

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday July 25
The loss of Yarraman Park's Group I sire Hinchinbrook was highlighted at Sandown on Wednesday when the Darren Weir trained Leonardo Da Hinchi made it two wins in as many starts when downing the favourite Alfa Oro.

HinchinbrookAn easy debut winner at Echuca earlier this month, Leonardo Da Hinchi stepped it up a notch for this 1300 metre assignment and after travelling in fourth position was tenacious to the line to win by a short neck.

A $100,000 Magic Millions Perth purchase for owner Kim Renner from the Gervase Park Stud draft, Leonardo da Hinchi is a half-brother to stakes-placed Raeburn from good producer Portrait, a half-sister by Octagonal to Group II winner and sire Jet Spur.

Leonardo da Hinchi is one of 101 winners this season for Hinchinbrook, who was enjoying his best ever results this year with over $6.3 million in earnings and a new Group I winner in star two year-old filly Seabrook.

His final foals will be born this spring.
