Dreamforce Wins Winter Stakes

Tara Madgwick - Saturday July 14
Progressive Fastnet Rock gelding Dreamforce has been knocking on the door of a stakes success and it came at Rosehill on Saturday when he scored a tenacious victory in the Listed ATC Winter Stakes.

DreamforceRunner-up at his previous outing when a painfully close second in the Listed ATC Civic Stakes, the John Thompson trained five year-old made amends with a bold long neck win for Brenton Avdulla in the 1400 metre sprint after jumping from the outside in the field of 13.

Thompson was relieved to taste success after the disappointment of his last outing.

"I went the early crow last time and was disappointed. It was nerve-wracking again," Thompson said.

"He is just such an honest horse and tries all the time. He's called Rocky around the stable because he never gives up.

"If he could just draw a barrier it would make such a difference."

Foaled and raised at Kitchwin Hills, Dreamforce (image Steve Hart ) was retained to race by his breeders after passing in at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale and has put together an impressive record with eight wins and six placings from 18 starts with prizemoney in excess of $432,000.

Thompson believes Group I goals are not beyond Dreamforce as he matures with racing.

"I'll give him a freshen-up and get him ready for some of the mile races in Melbourne," he said.

"I think races like the Toorak Handicap where he will get in with a light weight will suit him.

Fastnet Rock"I'd also like to take him to Perth for the Railway. I think he's the right sort of horse for that and I've had success there before."

The 138th stakes-winner worldwide for champion sire Fastnet Rock, Dreamforce is the best of three winners for Eskimo Queen, an outstanding racemare who won both the Group I Queensland Oaks and STC Coolmore Classic.

Kitchwin Hills sold the current yearling from Eskimo Queen, a colt by Wandjina, for $120,000 at Magic Millions this year to Dynamic Syndications. Eskimo Queen has a weanling filly to follow by Dreamforce's sire Fastnet Rock.

Dreamforce is the 18th Australian stakes-winner this season for Coolmore's champion sire Fastnet Rock, who will be joined on the Coolmore roster this spring by his Royal Ascot hero son Merchant Navy.
