Strong Start for Tattersalls July

Media Release - Thursday July 12

The opening session of the Tattersalls July Sale saw great demand for well-bred fillies including a Galileo filly from Australian bred mare Milanova, with 11 lots selling for 100,000 guineas or more. A total of 208 lots were sold for 5,407,000 guineas at an average of 25,995 guineas and a median of 9,000 guineas.

The top lot of the opening session was the DUBAWI filly AWARD WINNING who was consigned by The Castlebridge Consignment. The thrice-raced daughter of the COZZENE mare HIT THE SKY is officially rated 80 and is a half-sister to the Group winning trio of ROYAL BENCH, MAYHEM and MEMPHIS TENNESSEE.

Award WinningAWARD WINNING was knocked down to Blandford Bloodstock's Tom Goff for 350,000 guineas after he saw off the his colleague Richard Brown who was stood alongside Bertrand Le Metayer.

"She is a for an Irish client, who has been talking about buying a Dubawi filly for a long time" said Goff.

"She has a fantastic page and a great outcross pedigree.

"We have followed this filly for a while, she is a winner, rated 80 and we are delighted to get her."

Just two lots earlier Goff had also secured the GALILEO filly C'EST CA for 320,000 guineas. Also consigned by The Castlebridge Consignment, the three-year-old filly is out of the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes winner A Z WARRIOR and a sister to the Listed winning filly KEY TO MY HEART.

Goff secured her at the expense of BBA Ireland's Eamonn Reilly and commented;

"She is for an established US client. You just have to look at her page to see what she is - her dam won the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes.

"She is a very nice filly and she will be heading back to the US.

"It has been a great opportunity to buy into these families - as we saw at the December Sale, there is a great appetite for potential broodmares."

Galileo filly from Australian bred mare MilanovaThere were three GALILEO yearling fillies on offer and all there sold for six-figure values headed by the daughter of the Group 3 winning DANEHILL mare MILANOVA. The filly, who is also a sister to the Group 3 Munster Oaks winner PRETTY PERFECT, was knocked down to German agent and consignor Ronald Rauscher for 300,000 guineas and afterwards he commented;

"She is for a European-based owner. She is a lovely filly – she handled well this morning and vetted well, and she is just a May foal.

"It is a great family, and one I know well from my time spent at Windfields - there are lots of top performers in the family who have not made it onto the page such as Night Shift and Encosta Del Lago."

The other two GALILEO yearling fillies were both knocked down to Federico Barberini on behalf of Apple Tree Stud. The filly out of TIMBUKTU realised 220,000 guineas whilst a lot later the filly out of LUAS LINE was knocked down for 150,000 guineas. All three were consigned by The Castlebridge Consignment.

Another mare to prove in great demand was the Group 3 Park Express Stakes winner CZABO who was knocked down to agent Ross Doyle for 220,000 guineas. The daughter of SIXTIES ICON out of the DANEHILL DANCER mare FIUMICINO was offered in foal to Ballylinch Stud's LOPE DE VEGA. She won four of her ten race starts when trained by Mick Channon.

The Tattersalls July Sale continues at 9.30am on Thursday, July 12th.
