NZ Breds Feature in HK Awards Nominations

New Zealand-breds have had a great season in Hong Kong, recording victories in six of the 24 stakes races, and have been rewarded with nominations in every category in the Hong Kong Champion awards.

Ping Hai Star wins the HK DerbyNew Zealand-breds hold four nomination spots for the prestigious Hong Kong Horse of the Year title.

They include three-time Group One winner Beauty Generation, quality sprinter D B Pin, Hong Kong Derby winner Ping Hai Star, and 2015-16 Hong Kong Horse of the Year Werther.

Meanwhile, Pick Number One and Ugly Warrior are both nominees for Champion Griffin and Fifty Fifty joins Ping Hai Star and Pingwu Spark as New Zealand-bred nominees for Most Improved Horse.

Winners of the Champion Awards will be announced at The Hong Kong Jockey Club Champion Awards 2017/2018 presentation ceremony which will be held on July 13 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Hong Kong. - NZ RAcing Desk
