Trained by John O’Shea and Tom Charlton, two year-old colt Forest King was easy in the market when making his debut in the 1100m maiden with Dylan Gibbons to ride.

With four trials under his belt, two of them in his current preparation, Forest King was well educated and enjoyed a beautiful run in transit, while some of his rivals were less fortunate.

Forest King made the most of the way the race unfolded and found the line well to score by a length and a quarter over race favourite Euripides, a Godolphin bred colt by Street Boss (USA).

“Good result and I’m pleased for his connections, he’s a real bombproof style of horse,” said Tom Charlton.

“There are no sexy plans for him as his trials weren’t that flash, but he’s done nothing wrong.

“He put himself in a good position and is a tough, honest horse and he’s a horse we never really find the bottom of at home.

“We’ll have a think about what to do next, but this was a good sign.”

Forest King was a $140,000 Inglis Classic purchase.

A $140,000 Inglis Classic purchase from Glenlogan Park for O'Shea & Charlton Racing / James Bester Bloodstock / E Lucas, Forest King is the third winner from four foals to race from  Group II placed Tibrogargan Miss, who comes from the family of Group II winner Buck’s Pride.

Glenlogan Park will offer the current yearling from Tibrogargan Miss, a filly by North Pacific, at Magic Millions Gold Coast March as Lot 465.

A Group II winner, Tiger of Malay is also the sire of stakes-placed Momentslikethese and metro placed filly Tigroni.

Extreme Choice has three sons at stud with progeny of racing age and now all three of them – Tiger of Malay, Stay Inside and Extreme Warrior have sired winners.
