Hinchinbrook Mare Wins G3 Healy Stakes

Tara Madgwick - Saturday June 23
Quality sprinting mare Spright can deliver a big finish when things go her way and she did just that to win the Group III BRC Healy Stakes at Doomben on Saturday.

Spright A drop back to 1200 metres and firmer footing proved just to the liking of Spright,(image Steve Hart)  who charged home to win by a neck.

"Getting back on top of the ground was a factor in her favour. She can really let down on a firm track," said Garry Frazer, who indicated the daughter of Hinchinbrook would now head for a spell before preparing for the Melbourne Spring Carnival.

Spright was a $100,000 Inglis Premier II purchase from the Grange Thoroughbreds draft making her the highest priced filly sold in that part of the sale and has won five of 21 starts earning over $600,000 in prizemoney for her owners who include members of the White family in whose famous white and purple colours she runs.

Spright was a successful pinhook having been bought as a weanling by Gary Mudgway for just $12,000 at the Inglis Select Weanling Sale.

A half-sister to Group III placed Mine Two, Spright is the third winner from Dashoff, who comes from the family of Group I winner Ideal Planet.

Garry Frazer bought the current yearling from Dashoff, a filly by Arlington, for $40,000 at this year's Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

Spright is one of five stakes-winners this season for Yarraman Park's Hinchinbrook, who stands at a fee of $55,000.

Hinchinbrook had a winning double at Doomben with his classy mare Manaya also saluting.
