She’s Back with a Win!

Tara Madgwick - Monday February 9

Flashy Trapeze Artist mare She’s an Artist is an eye-catcher, not just for her considerable talent, but also for her abundant bling and she was able to overcome difficulties to score a determined first up win at Caulfield on Monday.

Not seen since finishing a close third at Flemington last October, the Ciaron Maher trained She’s an Artist was sent out favourite for the Benchmark 78 event over 1100m and after copping a squeeze early in the race found herself a long way back turning for home.

Ethan Brown charted a wide path in search of clear running and she responded with a powerful finish to arrive on the line and win by a head.

Stakes-placed last year, connections will no doubt be hoping she can convert potential to a stakes win at some point on the future.

“It was horrible,” saidstable representative Jack Turnbull of the position She’s an Artist found herself in at the start of the race.

“I just hoped she was going to be the better horses and thankfully she has prevailed.

“But it was actually nice to see her do that, come from behind, and on the hardest track to do that on the Heath.

“Hats off to her, she’s obviously a class horse. It didn’t work out last prep, but hopefully we have a lot more consistency this time."

A $175,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Astute Bloodstock Pty Ltd (FBAA) / Ciaron Maher Racing from the draft of Widden Stud, She’s an Artist has the overall record of three wins and two placings from six starts with prizemoney topping $170,000.

She’s an Artist is a half-sister to stakes-winner Untamed and is the sixth winner from seven to race from well related Fastnet Rock mare She’s a Wildcat.

Bred by the Vieira Group, she comes from a progressive Black Type family as She’s a Wildcat is a sister to Group I winner Foxwedge, stakes-winner She’s a Fox and to the dams of Group winners Bank Maur, Lilac and Namesake.

Widden Stud's Trapeze Artist has had five SW's this season!

She’s an Artist looks a bright prospect for Trapeze Artist, who has had a good run this season with five stakes-winners.
