Affordable G1 Success – Rheinwood Pastoral Delivers

Not many vendors at Inglis Classic can lay claim to having bred and sold two Group I winners in 2025 and you could have bought both of them at this sale for a combined total of $155,000.

Russian Revolution stallion Libertad closed out last year with a career defining win in the $1million Group I WATC Winterbottom Stakes for the Annabel and Rob Archibald stable.

A $40,000 Inglis Classic purchase from Rheinwood, he was pinhooked into the Inglis Ready 2 Race where he was snapped up by his trainers for $210,000.

Harry Angel (IRE) stallion Private Harry was purchased from Rheinwood for $115,000 by Kurrinda Bloodstock / Doyle Racing and won his first five starts in succession culminating with a win in the Group I ATC The Galaxy.

Yulong joined his ownership last year and after recovering from an injury he will campaign in 2026 for the Chris Waller stable.

Private Harry’s half-brother by Zousain is an obvious standout for Rheinwood this year at Classic and will be their first horse into the ring when offered as Lot 56.

The half-brother by Zousain to Private Harry.

“A strong, correct colt with a very good action, he looks the best the mare has thrown to-date,” said Kirsty Willis of Rheinwood Pastoral.

“This is a family renowned for producing speed horses and there are two new stakes-winners on the page since the catalogue went to print in Paradoxium and Hot and High.”

Two year-old Extreme Choice colt Paradoxium brilliantly won the Magic Millions Wyong 2YO Classic before a bout of travel sickness derailed his quest for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast, while Hot and High is one of the most exciting horses in WA.

A three year-old filly by Too Darn Hot (GB), Hot and High is undefeated with three wins in as many starts and the Group III WA Oaks is on her radar.

Additional yearlings from Rheinwood are as follows:

Lot 126 Colt Written By x Lakotadreamcatcher (USA), by Fort Prado

By a proven source of precocious 2YO stakes-winners in Written By. Half-brother to two winners from an imported stakes-winner from a US Black Type family. WRITTEN BY and Lakotadreamcatcher’s second dam sire NIJINSKY have an outstanding affinity, with five of Written By’s six SW’s (83.3%) bred on this nick.

Lot 235 Colt Peltzer x Nana Jenn, by Star Witness

By promising young sire Peltzer, already the sire of SW Buccleuch and SP Thanks Gorgeous. Second foal of a winning half-sister to G1 VRC Melbourne Cup winner Vow and Declare, G3 winner Litzdeel and SW Lycurgus. From a daughter of Star Witness, who is proving a great broodmare sire with G1 stars Bella Nipotina and Aeliana, both out of mares by him.

Lot 247 Filly Farnan x New Summer Night, by Manhattan Rain

By exciting young sire Farnan, already the sire of four SWs and is a half-sister to two winners from a winning daughter of SW Beauty School. Pedigree gurus will love that she comes from the same tail female family as does her sire Farnan as they both trace to Vain mare Salamore.

Add in a double cross of blue hen Shantha’s Choice giving this pedigree obvious appeal.

Lot 275 Filly Hellbent x Orchid Beach, by Hinchinbrook

By Hellbent, an outstanding sire of G1 winning fillies Benedetta and Magic Time. Half-sister to this season’s SP Flying Orchid and two more winners and the 2YO from the mare Orchid Sky (2f Portland Sky) was fourth on debut in the Group III MRC Chairman’s Stakes.

The HELLBENT / HINCHINBROOK cross has produced eight winners from ten runners (80%), with this season’s G3 BJ McLachlan Stakes winner Zip Lock bred this way and there is a new SW in this prolific Black Type family with Weeping Woman now on the page.

Lot 330 Colt Captivant x Rakitno, by Not a Single Doubt

From second crop of Captivant, who has already sired a winner. Half-sister to a winner and promising 3YO Rockthevelio (f Castelvecchio), who has placed at her first two starts for the David Pfieffer stable. Bred on similar Capitalist (sire of Captivant) x Not a Single Doubt cross as G2 winner Hidden Motive and three more Group place-getters.

Lot 493 Colt Kermadec x Talented Miss, by Al Maher

By proven sire Kermadec, sire of G1 winners Montefila, Tuvalu, Willowy, Amokura. Half-brother to SP Midnight Dynamite and two more winners being from a winning sister to SP Acouplamas, the dam of G1 Australian Derby winner Quick Thinker and G3 winner Seasons.

Lot 751 Colt Written By x Defar, by Wanted

Second colt in the draft by Written By. Half-brother to SW Upper Limits and is from a half-sister to G2 winner Nurse Kitchen from the family of G1 winner Helene Vitality. The half-sister to this colt, Three Wishes (4m Super One) placed on debut last month.
