Kiwi Breds Impress at Pakenham

Media Release - Tuesday June 19

The Waikato Stud colours were to the fore at Pakenham on Tuesday when She's Popular notched her second win from eight starts when successful over 1400m.

The daughter of Savabeel is trained by David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig and is out of the winning O'Reilly mare It Girl, a sister to four-time Group One winner Sacred Falls.

"The blinkers first time certainly helped," Lindsay Park representative Gino Mata said.

"Even before her first start, we had a high opinion of her. We raced her at her second start during the carnival. She's a hot-headed filly that is settling down now."

Winning rider Fred Kersley was keen to stick with the talented three-year-old.

"It was a nice win by her today," Kersley said. "She was in the box seat and always cruising and I had a whole lot of horse underneath me and it was just a matter of waiting for the right run to present.

"Once I presented her she really went through her gears nicely and hit the line with a fair bit left in the tank."

Plenty of upside to Seas No Limit

Seas No Limit as a yearlingOcean Park three-year-old Seas No Limit has plenty ahead of him according to jockey Linda Meech after their victory in the E-Cycle Solutions Jumps 28thJune Maiden Plate (1600m) at Pakenham Park on Tuesday.

The Matthew Ellerton and Simon Zahra-trained gelding was moderately away out of the gates to sit off the pace for the majority of the race.

Meech drew him out four-wide at the turn of the straight where he began to lengthen and stormed home with 200m to go to nab Eira at the line to win by three-quarters of a length.

"He didn't really love it (the synthetic track)," Meech said. "At the 600m he was really resenting it. I managed to get him to the outside of the runners, and even though he was lost he won quite impressively.

"He's only had the one bad run, so with the blinkers on he might string another couple together hopefully."

Ocean Park has sired 37 individual winners to date and seven stakes performers, with his eldest just three.

Seas No Limit was a $150,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Trelawney Stud draft and is a half-brother to  stakes-winner Richie McHorse and is from Group I New Zealand Oaks winner Boundless.
