Top bets from The Armchair Punter for Saturday August 12

Stephen Brassel - Saturday August 12

Tricky day at both Rosehill and Flemington but I still see some value plays at both venues so I'm keen to get involved.

Despite a tough day The Armchair Punter is happy to play on the weekend.
KEDLESTON (Flemington Race 1 No 7)
Has been costly when in the market at the majority of his runs and still a maiden after seven starts however he's worth one more crack here at good odds. Last time out was having his third run back from a spell when working home well for sixth after being tightened in the straight with five out of that race lining up here and he's better off at the weights against all but one. The race was run into a strong headwind and while he did have cover out the back the Tony Vasil-trained galloper did run the fastest last 600m and with the claim for Brandon Stockdale only carries 54.5kg.
BET: EACH-WAY
ODDS: $26 @ William Hill ($41 Price Pump), Ladbrokes ($41 Power Play)

SNITZSON (Flemington Race 7 No 6)
Resumes from a spell but first-up winner Cranbourne 1300m maiden when last in work. Went on from there to win two more races in the preparation before charging home late when third behind Hey Doc in the Australian Guineas. Gets 5kg off that horse here and looked primed for another profitable preparation when strong through the line in a recent Flemington jump out. Distance is short of his best but being fresh I'm happy to take the punt at the good odds.
BET: EACH-WAY
ODDS: $17 @ Luxbet

DENMAGIC (Rosehill Race 4 No 3)
Resumes from a spell but two impressive trials leading in suggest she's ready to go and has won first-up previously. Finished strongly when back from a spell last time in work finishing second to Dal Cielo over 1000m at Randwick when giving away a big start and she's better off over the 1100m here. Led throughout to win a 900m trial at Rosehill then last time sat off the lead and cruised through to win her 794m trial Warwick Farm trial on July 28. She may have only won two races from 22 starts but has raced in some good company events along the way and expecting she'll prove hard to hold out here.
BET: WIN
ODDS: $7.50 @ Bet365

HOGMANAY (Rosehill Race 5 No 3)
This bloke was a favourite of mine last preparation and he saluted three times and was invariably thereabouts. Resumes here but has been placed twice from three previous first-up runs and significantly he's three-from-three at Rosehill and has won between 1300m and 1900m. Has had two trials leading into this and not knocked about in either with the latest a third over 1030m at Rosehill which should have him primed perfectly for the 1350m.
BET: EACH-WAY
ODDS: $14 @ Sportsbet ($17 Power Play)

TREKKING (Rosehill Race 6 No 3)
There's plenty of talent in this race resulting in a nice price about this son of Street Cry. Has only raced three times for a first-up win then a strong finishing third in the Black Opal before failing in the Golden Slipper when nothing went right. Trialled really nicely for this winning his 735m Randwick heat in impressive fashion when charging over the top to win as he liked. Under the conditions gets 4kg weight relief off the top two runners and the quality of opposition he has met is much better than that of the unbeaten Siege Of Quebec so I'm really keen at the odds.
BET: WIN
ODDS: $5.50 @ Ladbrokes ($6.50 Odds Boost), William Hill ($6.50)
