Likely Autumn Superstars Set to Trial on Thursday

Autumn Glow, Sir Delius, Via Sistina, Lady Shenandoah and Apocalyptic and more - Punters and racing fans can see a suite of Australia’s best horses live in action at Royal Randwick on Thursday as campaigns begin for many of the looming Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival’s biggest feature races.

A set of 14 barrier trials including three for Group and Listed horses signals the first steps towards late Summer and major Autumn targets.

A range of Group 1 winners including Via Sistina, Sir Delius, Autumn Glow, Apocalyptic, Lady Shenandoah, Lindermann, Manaal, Aeliana, Marhoona and Beiwacht are among star line-ups having their first public trials for 2026.

The trials on the Kensington track are due to start at 9am, with the first three trials featuring the star Group horses.

Entry to the trials is free with parking available in the main drive off Alison Road or via Ascot Street.

Australian Turf Club Head of Racing and Wagering Nevesh Ramdhani said Thursday was a pivotal starting point for major Sydney stables and their best horses.

“It is exciting to see so early in the year the first public trials of so many star horses,’’ Mr Ramdhani said.

“Sydney racing is amongst the strongest anywhere in the world and the line-up of horses are just a sample of the best we have heading to major races.

“We encourage and welcome racing fans, along with our Members and owners, to come to Royal Randwick and see these equine stars live.’’

The trials are also telecast live on Sky Thoroughbred Central.
