Two in a Row for Gavelhouse Graduate Heel Be Jack

Media Release - Monday June 11

gavelhouse graduate Heel Be Jack recorded his second win in succession at Riccarton on Wednesday quickly rewarding the stable by taking his earnings since his purchase less than two months ago to over $14,500.

Purchased by co-trainers and owners Kenny Moore and Paul Harris from gavelhouse.com in April, the five-year-old son of Jimmy Choux cost just $3,600 and has relished his Southern move.

Off the back of his last start victory over 2200m he started favourite come post time dropping back to the 2000m trip on Wednesday.

Jockey Kylie Williams settled him just four lengths behind the leader and he found the better ground to come out of the corner to kick on to win by a half-length.

"He has come through the race well, when we turned him out in the paddock he was kicking his heels up," commented Moore.

"At this stage we plan to work our way through the grades and with the continuing improvement a New Zealand Cup tilt could be on the cards."

"His next start will probably be at Riccarton Park and depending on how well he is, he could roll into another one."
