Fairway Thoroughbreds Royally Bred Galileo Filly Breaks Maiden in France

Mark Smith - Sunday June 10

With the magnificent Highland Reel joining the Swettenham Stud roster in 2018, his sister Via Condotti carried the colours of John Camilleri's Fairway Thoroughbreds to a timely maiden win over ten furlongs at Compiegne on Friday.

Trained by Andre Fabre, Via Condotti tracked the early speed and was strong late under Pierre-Charles Boudot to defeat Golden Hannie (Lord of England) by a half-length.

It was the second start for the 3yo daughter of Galileo who was a 625,000gns purchase by De Burgh Equine / James Harron Bloodstock at the 2016 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.

She becomes the fourth winner out of Elvstroem's sister Hveger (Danehill) who placed in the Group I Schweppes Oaks and Group II South Australian Oaks.

Via Condotti has plenty to live up to. Besides being a sister to 7-time Group 1 winner Highland Reel, she is also a sister to the globetrotting Idaho and a half-sister to Valdemoro (Encosta de Lago) who placed in the Group 1 VRC Oaks and Group 1 Storm Queen Stakes.

Highland Reel (pictured) will stand his first season at Swettenham Stud in 2018 at a fee of $16,500.
