Fairway Thoroughbreds Royally Bred Galileo Filly Breaks Maiden in France

With the magnificent Highland Reel joining the Swettenham Stud roster in 2018, his sister Via Condotti carried the colours of John Camilleri's Fairway Thoroughbreds to a timely maiden win over ten furlongs at Compiegne on Friday.

Trained by Andre Fabre, Via Condotti tracked the early speed and was strong late under Pierre-Charles Boudot to defeat Golden Hannie (Lord of England) by a half-length.

It was the second start for the 3yo daughter of Galileo who was a 625,000gns purchase by De Burgh Equine / James Harron Bloodstock at the 2016 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.

She becomes the fourth winner out of Elvstroem's sister Hveger (Danehill) who placed in the Group I Schweppes Oaks and Group II South Australian Oaks.

Via Condotti has plenty to live up to. Besides being a sister to 7-time Group 1 winner Highland Reel, she is also a sister to the globetrotting Idaho and a half-sister to Valdemoro (Encosta de Lago) who placed in the Group 1 VRC Oaks and Group 1 Storm Queen Stakes.

Highland Reel (pictured) will stand his first season at Swettenham Stud in 2018 at a fee of $16,500.
