Trained by Joe Pride and ridden by Chad Schofield, Cool Jakey looked well placed in the 1400m Benchmark 88 event at his second run back from a spell.

He carried 61.5kg to dominate his rivals, scoring by a length and a half to take his overall record to seven wins and  five placings from 22 starts with prizemoney just shy of $460,000.

“He ran really well first up and we were confident coming here today,” said Joe Pride, who will consider adding blinkers to his gear for his next assignment.

“He can go to the Gold Coast now, and while I don’t often add blinkers to a winner, we do have that up our sleeve.”

A $260,000 Magic Millions purchase for The Racing League from the Newhaven Park draft, Cool Jakey runs for the NSW Tycoons syndicate and is the best of two winners from Cool Snitzel, a metro winning three-quarter sister to stakes-winner Zupacool.

Newhaven Park will offer the half-sister by Cool Aza Beel to Cool Jakey at Magic Millions as Lot 1026.
