The Kris Lees stable has been in hot form over the summer and claimed another feature race win at Gosford on Sunday when progressive mare Kind Words downed the race favoruite Hyperbolic to win the $300,000 Group III Belle of the Turf Stakes (1600m).

Group placed as a three year-old and fourth in the Group I BRC Queensland Oaks, five year-old Written Tycoon mare Kind Words has been in the Black Type wilderness since her classic year, but came to Gosford off a dominant last start win at Rosehill at 2000m.
Dropping back in trip with Tom Sherry to ride, Kind Words found herself in the right place at the right time and was strong to the line winning by a long neck to take her overall record to four wins and eight placings from 27 starts with prizemoney topping $500,000.
“Everything worked out for her today,” said stable representative Cameren Swan.
“She drew an awkward gate, but she got into a nice spot and was tough and finished off well.
“She lacks turn of foot at the mile, but when they got level with her she was tough enough to fight them off.
“She probably should have won a stakes race before now. She had a torrid run in the Queensland Oaks and went really well, so it’s good to see her get the Group Three win now.”
A $280,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Bruce Perry Bloodstock from the Cambridge Stud draft, Kind Words runs for New Zealand owner Lib Petagna, who enjoyed success with the Kris Lees stable going back in time with glamour mare Lucia Valentina.
Kind Words is the best of three winners from three to race from Gracious Grey, a winning three-quarter-sister by Redoute’s Choice to Group II winner Positive Peace from stakes-winner Warpath.
Kind Words is the 82nd stakes-winner for Yulong’s champion sire Written Tycoon.
