Goffs Foal Filly Purchases Prove Savvy Investment for Trilogy

Tara Madgwick - Thursday December 11

Trilogy Racing have had quite the run of success leading into summer sharing in the ownership of speedy stallion Libertad, winner of the Group I WATC Winterbottom Stakes and also The Three Hundred, who resumed from a spell to win the Magic Millions Wyong Stakes, but it was another of their winners that caught our eye on Wednesday.

Jason and Mel Stenning have made wide ranging investments in bloodstock along with their acquisition of Blue Gum Farm and one of their more left field purchases was a Night of Thunder filly sourced from the Goffs November Foal Sale in 2021.

Purchased for €70,000 on their behalf by McKeever BS/CB Bloodstock, she arrived back in Australia in July of 2022 and has been a work in progress.

Named Stealth of Night (IRE) and sent to the Lindsay Park training team, she made her debut with a second at Geelong in December 2023 before heading back to the paddock for a lengthy spell to overcome some immaturity issues.

She won two races in March and April this year at Pakenham and then stepped out at Sandown on Wednesday off a very close first up second at Cranbourne last month.

With Craig Williams to ride in the Benchmark 70 event over 1400m, Stealth of Night got the cash as favourite with a tenacious effort to fight back and win by half a length. The victory took her overall record to three wins and two seconds from just five starts with nearly $100,000 in the bank.

“Lindsay Park and the Hayes boys have done a marvelous job with her. I was a part of her development early on and Jason and Mel Stenning have been good supporters,” said Craig Williams.

“I remember going to Geelong with her on debut and she was just all legs and they’ve given her the time and now she has turned into a really nice mare and this was a city win for her today and she was pretty dominant.”

Stealth of Night is a half-sister to stakes-placed Invisible Friend and is one of five winners from Stealth Missile, a winning half-sister by Invincible Spirit to 2015 Champion French 3YO Filly and dual Group I winner Covert Love.

Stealth of Night is by Night of Thunder, who has had a sensational year in 2025, producing 25 Euro stakes-winners, three of them G1 winners led by Ombudsman.

That modest foal purchase back in 2021 in Ireland is shaping as a real investment for the future with Stealth of Night sure to be a valuable addition to the Blue Gum Farm broodmare band when her racing days are done.

She was not the only filly purchased for Trilogy at the 2021 Goffs November Foal Sale with McKeever BS/CB Bloodstock also signing for another Night of Thunder filly for €175,000 and a Camelot filly for  €75,000.

Those two fillies (also now 5YO mares), Our Queen (Night of Thunder) and Spirit of Camelot (Camelot), are also both metropolitan winners

Our Queen is now with Bjorn Baker after starting off with the late Mike Moroney and has won three of five starts, while stakes-placed Spirit of Camelot has won four of 12 starts and has recently been transferred to Peter Snowden after being previously with Michael Hickmott.
