Fresh from Group I success last Saturday with Cosmic Crusader, the Peters Investments colours were back in the winner’s circle at Ascot on Wednesday carried by an Extreme Choice three year-old filly that has stakes potential written all over her.
Trained by Michael Grantham, Like Clockwork won on debut at Bunbury last month over 1000m and stepped up to 1200m with Jefferson Tsang to ride.
Back near last and the widest runner turning for home, Like Clockwork looked to be facing an uphill task to catch the favourite, but she set sail for home like a woman on a mission.
She surged past her rivals to win by three-quarters of a length and is now two for two.
Not a homebred for the Peters family, Like Clockwork was a $200,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Byerley Bloodstock from the Kingstar Farm draft.

She is the first winner for Clockwork Orange, a metro winning half-sister by More Than Ready (USA) to Group III placed Second Bullet from Champion 3YO Filly and triple Group I winner Private Steer.
Extreme Choice was in the news earlier in the day when his exciting colt Paradoxium won the $200,000 Magic Millions Wyong 2YO Classic earning him a shot at the $3million Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast next month.
